Essiac or Essiac Tea is a blend of herbs used to make a tea that is believed by some to have cancer-treating properties. Originally used by Native American tribal medicine men, the recipe was rediscovered by a Canadian nurse, Rene Caisse, R.N. in 1922, as she was attending to a woman who had previously cured her breast cancer with an herbal remedy given to her by a North American Indian shaman in the 1890s.
Known as "Nurse Caisse" or "Miss Caisse", Rene named her version of the recipe, Essiac - her last name spelled backwards. She continued to help people suffering with cancer up until she died in 1978.
In 1959, Caisse was working with Fawcett Publishing editor, Ralph Daigh and a major Boston hospital to conduct major testing on Essiac's effectiveness. These efforts led to her involvement with John F. Kennedy's personal physician, Dr. Charles A. Brusch, MD, of Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1989, Dr. Brusch revealed that he had cured his own cancer using Essiac daily since his own cancer was discovered in 1984. Dr. Brusch continued Caisse's Essiac work after her death.

Synergy's Essiac Tea
Synergy's Essiac Tea is an easy-to-use, encapsulated form of traditional Essiac Tea. Essiac tea is an herbal formula used since 1922 by Canadian nurse Rene Caisse. The formula originated from a native Ojibwa medicine man. Due to the complexity of the preparation process, it would take hours for you to make this tea at home. Thanks to SYNERGY, it is possible to provide the same herbal combination in convenient capsule form. Essiac Tea contains burdock root, sheep sorrel aerial parts, slippery elm bark and Turkey rhubarb root. It is traditionally used to support immunity and help detoxify and purify the blood.
Burdock Root (Arctium lappa), Sheep Sorrel Aerial Parts (Rumex acetosella), Slippery Elm Bark (Ulmus rubra), Turkey Rhubarb Root (Rheum officinale)
Burdock root - cleanses the blood and lymphatic system. It contains Inulin, which strengthens the vital organs such as the liver, pancreas and spleen. Its vitamin A and selenium help eliminate free radicals and its chromium content helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Sheep sorrel - rich in vitamins, and trace mineral elements, it nourishes the glandular system. Sheep sorrel contains silicon, a necessary element for nerves and the myellin sheath that protects them. Sheep Sorrel cleanses blood and improves liver, intestinal and bowel function.
Slippery elm bark - contains mucilage which helps the body cleanse itself of toxic waste. It helps nourish and restore plasma in the blood and lymph in the lymphatic system.
Turkey rhubarb root - acts as a gentle laxative and purges the body, especially the liver, of toxic buildup and waste. It helps reduces fever and inflammation. Studies show that rhubarb root has antibiotic and anti-tumor properties.
